About Me

I am a qualified Clinical Psychologist. I provide private therapy services online via ‘Google meet’ to adults (i.e. 18+) on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays – including some evening appointments slots. Please contact me for current availability.

I have a special interest and experience in working with people who have had traumatic life events which have impacted on life moving forwards. My most recent NHS funded work was within the Op Courage Veterans’ Complex Treatment Service. I am familiar with military culture and how it impacts expression of emotion, and I really enjoy working with military veterans. See my veterans page here.

I also happily work with other client groups, and have particular experience in the areas of managing anxiety, low mood, OCD, relationships difficulties, eating disorders, physical health conditions and unexplained physical symptoms. I am trained in a variety of approaches for working with specific difficulties, further details below.

Another of my special interests is facilitating personal growth, both generally and following trauma. This might be as a goal within individual therapy or specifically within the framework of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (more info on this in Services).

Whether you are looking for structured and goal focused work to address something specific, or to explore your mind and understand yourself better – I enjoy both and all in between. It doesn’t matter to me whether your start point is rock bottom, or whether life is ok but just not how you want it to be – or anywhere else besides. You do not have to have a mental health diagnosis to access a particular kind of therapy.

The way I work is:

Person centred – focused towards your particular difficulties and what you hope to get out of our contact. This takes into account your preferences, needs, ways of learning, culture and individual differences. You are the expert in you, and I have the expertise in psychology – we would work best as a team, rather than me just telling you what you should do (a self-help guide can do that for free…).

Integrative – I have been trained to create a unique treatment plan for each individual, which may involve using a particular approach or may be drawn from many different approaches.

Approaches I am trained to provide include Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, Narrative and Narrative Exposure Therapy, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) and the EMDR Flash Technique.
